Answers to Frequently Asked Questions

One of the frequently asked questions we receive is whether one can renew library materials over the telephone. The answer is “Yes!” Just call the Bracken Library Circulation Desk at (765) 285-5143 for help.

To answer questions like this, and to provide more information about library services and resources, the University Libraries have created a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) webpage, www.bsu.edu/library/faq. The FAQ can help students and faculty find detailed information about borrowing procedures, computing facilities, copying facilities, personal interest library uses, student uses in the University Libraries, general help, and more.

The design of the FAQ page uses a tabbed-browsing system for ease of use. By identifying the tab most closely related to the question’s subject, the inquirer is most likely to find the answer. For example, by clicking on the tab marked “Students,” one can view a list of questions related to academic use of the University Libraries, as shown in the graphic. Then, by clicking on the question, one finds helpful responses.

Questions answered on the FAQ page range from “How much does making photocopies cost?” to “How can I donate something to the Libraries?” Of course, librarians are available at the Reference/Information Desk to help students with questions.

For more help at the University Libraries, students and faculty can check out the Ask a Librarian options, which connects the person to librarians through chat, e-mail, and phone service, www.bsu.edu/library/collections/reference/askalibrarian.
